Livingston signs NLI with Miami

OXFORD, Ohio (WKRC) -- Miami University's men's basketball program signed Leonard Livingston (Upper Marlboro, Md./Patterson HS/Florida Gulf Coast University/Pensacola State College) to a national letter-of-intent, head coach John Cooper announced Friday afternoon.

Livingston is a 6-foot-10, 190-pound forward who spent last season at Pensacola State College after playing his freshman season at Florida Gulf Coast University and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He is eligible to compete immediately for the RedHawks.

Were really excited to have Leonard join our program. It is evident that we are in need of size, and Leonard certainly brings that along with his ability to block shots, said Cooper. We feel that we continue to head in the right direction as we continue to build our roster and shape it in a way that will allow us to have versatility throughout and will allow us to play in multiple ways. Leonard also was a member of the Florida Gulf Coast team that advanced to the Sweet 16, so he has NCAA Tournament experience, which I always think is a good thing to bring into a program. We look forward to great things from him.

Last season, he helped the Pirates to a 21-11 overall record and an 8-4 conference mark to tie for first in the league standings. A First-Team All-Panhandle Conference selection, Livingston played in all 32 games for Pensacola State, averaging 5.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 2.5 bpg while shooting an impressive 53.8 percent from the field.

At FGCU, Livingston was a part of a team that won the Atlantic Sun Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. He played in 14 games for the Eagles, averaging 4.9 minutes per game and scoring 22 points on the season.

Livingston prepped at Patterson High School, leading the team to a Maryland Class 3A State championship as a senior. He blocked 11 shots in the championship game for the Clippers, who finished with a 21-7 overall record. He amassed 92 blocked shots on the season for Patterson.

Livingston joins a RedHawk signing class that includes 6-foot-7 forward Kalif Wright, who signed an NLI on April 16, and 6-foot-8 combination forward Logan McLane, 6-foot-2 combination guard Zach McCormick and 6-foot-7 wing Roderick Mills, who signed national letters-of-intent with Miami in November.
