Hamilton makes first run count
Billy Hamilton, playing in his first major-league game, scored the only run in the Reds' 1-0 home win over the Cardinals. Hamilton, who pinch ran for Ryan Ludwick in the seventh inning and promptly stole second base and scored on Todd Frazier's double, is the first player to score the only run in a 1-0 game in his major-league debut since the Senators' Don Lock did it against the White Sox in Chicago on July 17, 1962.
It was the third 1-0 game at Great American Ball Park this year. The Reds won the previous two, on April 16 against the Phillies and on April 24 versus the Cubs. That equals the number of 1-0 contests played in Cincinnati over the previous five seasons combined.
