Fans Not Suprised Dusty Baker Was Fired

CINCINNATI (WRKC) -- The idea of a new manager is nothing new to Reds fans. Many have called for Dusty Baker's replacement at the end of each season. But what do fans have to say now that Baker's removal is a reality. Local 12 news reporter Larry Davis has reaction from Great American Ball Park.

Even though the season is over, fans are milling around the Reds Gift Shop and Hall of Fame. Overall, they like Baker but agreed a change must be made. They've made trips to the playoffs with nothing to show. Some say the Reds' play during final week of the season didn't help Dusty.

The fans Larry talked to were not too surprised by Baker's firing. "The manager takes responsibility for the final result for the team. The result for 2010,'12, '13 is negative. It might be time to make a move in another direction".

"I'm sad. I'm disappointed with the Reds. With all the talent on the team they should have been able to do better than they did", says another fan.

Several fans told Larry they would like to see Lou Piniella replace Baker, even though they know it's not likely. Others mentioned Tony La Russa.  What fans seem to want is someone is tough with a lot of fire.
