The Weather Authority meets with NWS, EMA, DOT officials to discuss weather communication

Partners Discussing Weather Communication Challenges

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Last week, three Local 12 meteorologists were part of the National Weather Service in Wilmington's Integrated Warning Team Meeting at the Nathanael Greene Lodge.

The meeting connected members of the media, emergency managers, the National Weather Service, government transportation coordinators and other partners. We discussed communication methods, forecasting techniques, and ways to gather information.

Members of the weather enterprise - including The Weather Authority - highlighted the fact that there are an increasing and sometimes overwhelming number of information sources, many types of forecasts, and many ways to communicate information.

Emergency managers emphasized their need for timely information, frequent impacts and updates from weather outlets, and an understand of the confidence in the forecast.

On-air, online, and through The Weather Authority App, we aim to give you a forecast - including impacts - through multiple platforms, we last week's meeting is a reminder that we are continuous learning new methods to forecast and communicate.
