CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There's a new list of some of the best workouts that could be as effective as running.
The new report on exercise says something like an outdoor fitness class may be just as good for you as marathon running. This is coming from a report from Harvard Medical School, which looks at the some of the other best types of exercise besides just running.
These five exercises can help with everything from weight loss to heart protection, to building better bones without putting a strain on your joints the way running can for some.
The workouts include walking, swimming, which some think of as the perfect whole body workout, tai chi, strength training, which uses weights or body resistance, and ab work and exercises that strengthen your pelvic floor.
Those exercises help tighten everything from your bladder to your lower abs. These tend to relax over time if you don't keep them fit.
