Blue and Green Day: Wear blue/green to support organ donation
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Friday is National Blue and Green Day and everyone is being reminded to wear those colors to support the idea of being an organ or tissue donor.
Specialists at Children's Hospital, as well as the mother of 5-year-old Gavin who just got a donated heart transplant, are saying a special thank you for such a selfless act.
"I'm so sorry for your loss, but you gave me my precious boy, can't wait to meet them, just thank you, and I'm praying for your family every day," said Tia Wilson, Gavin's mother.
"You are wanting to bring awareness that you are an organ and tissue donor and anyone who wants to do that can through the Department of Motor Vehicles or through LifePassItOn.org and sign up," said Jason Huff of Children's Hospital.
On Friday at Children's Hospital, Jason, Tia and several other agencies are hosting a special "Ogan Donation Awareness" event. Local 12's Liz Bonis will be there to help emcee it. It's in the Sabin Auditorium during the lunch hour at noon.
