CINCINNATI (WKRC) - When it comes to the perfect pillow, you likely have a personal preference, but a report from WebMD says there are a few things you should know about the perfect pillow when it comes to your health and a good night's sleep.
The wrong pillow can be uncomfortable for your head, neck, body or sleep position, but a few other things matter too -- like the last time you bought a new pillow. This report says if it's been longer than 12-18 months, your pillow is past its prime.
That means it may be ripe with skin cells, mold, mildew, fungus and dust mites, which can irritate the sinuses and allergies.
It's also suggested you look at your sleeping position. A pillow should keep your head in neutral alignment, which means your head is sitting squarely on your shoulders. It shouldn't be too far back or too far forward.
