CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A local mental health center is helping those who are struggling, not only with counseling services, but also with the cost of it.

As the demand for mental health help in our community continues to grow, so does the need for many to be able to pay for it.

A committee of caring people at the Lindner Center of HOPE are trying to make sure everyone has access to mental health care.

Lindner started a program several years ago to support what’s called the Helping Hands Fund.

Mary Alexander at the Lindner Center of HOPE explained how it works and who it supports.

"The Helping Hands fund is designed specifically for patients who are in financial need. And with the pandemic that just happened, it's imperative that we take care of our mental health. It's the most critical health issue on our plate right now. So, we're helping patients who may not be able to afford their services here at the center,” said Alexander, who is the center’s Senior Director of Development.

"One in four people suffer with a mental illness, and so we all know somebody who's suffering. And we want to make sure that people get the care they need when they need it," Alexander added.
