15-year-old kills his mom after argument about grades
DEBRAY, Fla. (WKRC) - Police say a 15-year-old boy in Florida confessed to killing his mother after an argument they had about his grades.
Gail Cleavenger was known as a kind, caring wife and friend.
Neighbor Lynn Hackett said, "Oh yeah, very compassionate. I'm gonna miss her, and I think it's a terrible tragedy."
No one expected the horrific news that Gail's own son Gregory Ramos strangled her.
The two allegedly argued about his grades previous to the murder.
Detectives say the son waited until his mom was in bed and then choked her.
He went away to get a wheelbarrow for her body and returned to find her still breathing so he strangled her.
Deputies say he called friends to ask for help covering up the killing and stage a robbery at his home.
Those friends were the ones who helped lead police to the victim's body which was buried behind a church.
"It's heartbreaking to sit down with the family, because the family has lost everything," Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.
As for the 15-year-old son police said he showed no emotion or remorse.
"He also stated to us, that he believes he deserved a Grammy for the way he performed with the 911 call."
