CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There have been plenty of ridiculous "Wheel of Fortune" fails but a new entry from Monday night ranks right up there with the worst ever. A contestant struggled to guess the last remaining letter in a puzzle and has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
Khushi Talluru, a contestant during the show's Teen Week, struggled to finish a phrase in the "Food & Drink" category. It ultimately cost the 10th grader from Colorado Springs a chance at an all-expenses paid trip to Antigua and $650.
FRE_H TROPICAL FRUIT
Talluru was two letters short of getting the answer and guessed "H"to leave one final consonant.
“Solve it or spin it or but do something quickly,” said host Pat Sajak.
Talluru opted to spin but was still unclear of the remaining letter. “I’ll go with a ‘G’,” she said, which would have spelled out “FREGH.”
“What?!”
An audience member could be heard yelling in disbelief off camera before Sajak moved on the the next contestant. Julianna Palumbo, an 11th grade student from Kentucky, immediately went for the solve and correctly stated, “FRESH TROPICAL FRUIT.”
“You know when that happens and you’re sitting at home, you’re saying, ‘How in the world can that (not be solved)?'” said Sajak, trying to come to the defense of Talluru. “But, you know, sometimes it’s a word that just doesn’t want to come into focus for you.”
