Ohio teacher dies; community collects backpacks in her memory
ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - After a teacher passed away in Adams County, Ohio, the community came together and collected more than 600 backpacks in her memory.
Melissa Williams, 38, died suddenly at her home July 17. Her services were held Saturday. She was an elementary school teacher with the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District.
After Williams' passing, the school district started #MelissasMission, collecting backpacks for families in need. At last count, 619 backpacks were donated, in addition to numerous monetary donations to buy supplies.
