ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - Two people are dead after a severe fire broke out in a home on Thursday.
By the time the first 911 call came in, flames were shooting out the roof.
The first victim was found not long after emergency crews got on scene.
A second person was found a few hours later.
Almost the entire roof collapsed which, crews say, made searching for the second victim much slower.
Two dogs also died in the fire.
The home is located on Tidewater court off 8 Mile Road.
Local 12 spoke with Holly Helscher, who was one of the first to call for help after seeing the flames from her backyard.
"I saw the blaze that looked like it was over the top of the houses," Helscher said. "I was hoping people weren't home, but I came right back into the house and I said, 'Oh my god, where's the phone?' I called 911 right away because I thought, 'I hope no one's home', you know, but I didn't know."
A woman and her adult daughter lived in the home, but so far, investigators have not identified either of the victims.
There's been no word on what may have started the fire, or if there were working smoke detectors in the home.
