BLINK Light & Art Festival kicks off
OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - A four-day festival that's all about sight and spectacle kicks off with a parade.
It will draw big crowds to the heart of the city starting Thursday, as Cincinnati’s skyline transforms with light, color and movement. "BLINK" was all set to begin.
The opening ceremony for BLINK is parade called the “Future City Spectacular.”
It will be a different type of parade because it's happening at night. It needs to be dark to see all the cool lights. The parade starts at about 7:15 p.m.
More than 2,000 participants, including members of local school, civic and church groups, will illuminate themselves and make their way on Vine Street from Findlay Market to Cincinnati's Washington Park. It is less than a mile.
After the parade, participants should make sure to take in the entire festival. It'll all be up and running.
BLINK organizers announced a downloadable app to help you navigate the festival. It runs 20 city blocks from the Ohio River to Findlay Market with multiple stops in between.
"I would say this is an event you do not want to miss. It's going to be amazing, so of it's hard to explain because it's so mindboggling. This is one of those events that you'll be sorry on Monday if you don't come to it,” said
There is so much to see and do. Interactive art, music stages, light up walls and murals and almost everything is free.
You can watch live coverage of the parade on the Local 12 Facebook page. The stream starts at 7 p.m.
