Coroner identifies man killed in Florence house fire

FLORENCE, Ky. (WKRC) - A house fire has turned fatal in Florence Thursday morning. The Boone County coroner said Cull Embry, 90, died in that fire.

Firefighters were called to the home on Cayton Road to fight the fire.

Embry was trapped in the basement, where the fire began. Firefighters were able to prevent it from spreading to the rest of the house.

A second person escaped the burning home, uninjured. A neighbor told Local 12 they believe that person is Embry's daughter.

Authorities said there were working smoke detectors in the home.

Investigators haven't said how that fire might have started, but they do not suspect foul play.
