CPD: Suspect makes "tactical error" during chase, runs into backdoor of police station
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A suspected shoplifter made what police are calling a "tactical error" when he decided to duck into the backdoor of a police station while he was attempting to evade police.
Police say that 24-year-old Jeremy Roberts had concealed about $125 worth of merchandise from a Walmart in Westwood when he was confronted by an off-duty officer who was working security detail at the store.
Police say Roberts fled from the officer, who deployed a taser in an attempt to stop Roberts. the taser had "no effect".
While fleeing, Roberts decided to duck into a nearby building in an attempt to lose his pursuers. The building he picked to hide in? CPD District 3's station.
Upon Roberts arrival, he was greeted by "numerous" officers who quickly placed him in custody.
Roberts is charged with Theft and Obstructing Official Business.
