EVANSTON, Ohio (WKRC) - A new wellness facility designed to provide a host of services for local families opened on Oct. 16. Cincinnati Public Schools officials and students and city leaders cut the ribbon on the new Schiff Wellness Center.
It's an addition to the Academy of World Languages magnet school in Evanston.
The $2.5 million dollar facility serves children and families of Academy of World Languages and other CPS schools. It also serves the communities of Evanston and Walnut Hills.
Services include physical care as well as behavioral health, vision and dental care.
This type of wellness hub is a growing trend.
"they are growing this concept because we're seeing the fruits of having children be healthy because we know students have to be healthy to learn and they need to learn to be healthy" said Marilyn Crumpton, medical director of the division of school and adolescent health.
In addition to being a magnet school, Academy of World Languages is a community learning center. It offers health services, counseling, after-school programs, and more.
