BOONE COUNTY, KY. (WKRC) - A FedEx driver, pulling two trailers, was flown to the hospital after he went off the road and down an embankment off of I-275 Thursday morning. It took crews nearly two hours to free him from the crushed cab.

Boone County deputies say the driver was eastbound on I-275 in the right lane when he veered right and hit a broken down Trailblazer in the emergency lane. No one was in the SUV.

He continued across the bottom of the Mineola Pike entrance ramp before going down the embankment, according to deputies. His tractor-trailers overturned, crushing the cab.

The driver was trapped, hanging upside down, before he was freed. Deputies say he remained conscious through the ordeal. He was flown to UC Medical Center. There is no word on his condition.

It took hours to clean up the wreck. The fuel tanks had to be siphoned before crews could right the tractor-trailers and tow them away.
