Death penalty trial begins for man charged in double murder in Hamilton
HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) - Jury selection has begun for the trial a man accused of taking part in a deadly drive-by shooting in Hamilton. Michael Grevious could face the death penalty if he's convicted.
Grevious is charged with hiring someone to kill a man in that drive-by shooting on Central Avenue in August 2016. Orlando Gilbert and Todd Berus were killed. The drive-by shooting took place just hours after a funeral for the victim of a shooting at Doubles nightclub.
Tony Patete, Melinda Gibby and Zachary Harris were also charged in the double murder. Grevious is accused of hiring them.
Patete and Harris are serving sentences of life in prison. Gibby pleaded guilty to aggravated murder charges. According to court papers, she's expected to be sentenced to 30 years to life. Her sentencing hearing was delayed ahead of the Grevious trial.
