Driver accused of hitting two men on a sidewalk also faces drug and gun charges
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The driver accused of hitting two people on the sidewalk appeared in court. Police added several more charges once they searched Darius Crossty's car following the accident.
Police say Crossty hit two men with his car along Vine Street near Woolper Wednesday afternoon. Both were on or near benches on the sidewalk. One of the men was taken to the hospital.
Undercover officers happened to be in the area and saw what happened. They say Crossty didn't stop but then parked the car a block or so away and tried to run. Police say when they searched the car they found heroin and crack cocaine prepared for sale and a stolen gun.
In court, Crossty's attorney said his client stopped after the accident because he wasn't trying to get away. The attorney also said Crossty notified officers that a gun was in the car. He said this case is "not as it seems".
Crossty is charged with aggravated assault, drug trafficking and possession and gun charges. A judge ordered him locked up on $900,000 bond.
