Eight days of goetta: Goettafest expands to two cities, two weekends
NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) - Goettafest is back and bigger than ever.
This year, the festival is happening in two cities over the course of two weekends.
“We’ve been in Newport for years, and now that Covington has that new Covington plaza, we decided, ‘Hey, what a great opportunity to come back to Covington,’ because that’s where our factory is anyway,” director of marketing for Glier’s Meats Kerry Schall said.
Attendees will be able to start their day at Newport’s Festival Park and end it at the brand new Covington plaza, or vice-versa.
“We got with Queen City Riverboat and for five bucks you can get a wristband and ride the boat all day back and forth. Kids 12 and under ride free,” Schall said.
Goettafest features more than 60 goetta-themed menu items, including a new addition: goetta crab cake.
“We’ve got some great goetta creations for you,” Schall said. “We challenge our vendors to be creative and come up with some awesome stuff.”
There will also be several goetta-themed games and all of the proceeds will go to support the Dragonfly Foundation.
“This year, they’re having a hard time coming up with volunteers, so if there’s anyone out there who would like to volunteer to come work some games and have a good time, they’d love the help,” Schall said.
Goettafest runs Thursday, July 29 through Sunday, August 1, and then again August 5 – 8.
