Hamilton County commissioner says he won't sign Cincinnati's Pride proclamation
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati's Pride parade and festival is Saturday, and it typically comes with recognition from city and county leaders.
But Hamilton County commissioner Chris Monzel has chosen not to sign the day's official proclamation.
Monzel released a statement saying:
I firmly believe everyone should have equal rights and protections under the law.
Reasonable people can disagree on politics. I contend that reasonable people should be able to agree that each person has a right to their own point of view. My decision not to sign the proclamation -- which in essence doesn't create laws or ordinances that would affect any individual's well-being -- is a personal decision that I have made.
I wish the parade and all attendees well.
