Hearing for man accused of following teen girl for sex in Reading
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A man accused of following a 14-year-old to have sex with her in Reading, waived his court appearance Wednesday. The attorney for Raymond Philpot attended his arraignment hearing.
According to court papers, Philpot followed the girl from the McDonald's on Reading Road to the area of West Mechanic Street and Brown Street. She texted her mother that she needed help. Once she got near her home, she told police that he tried to grab her. Her mother intervened and Philpot ran off.
Police looked for a suspect based on the description provided by the girl and her mother. They found Philpot behind Reading Middle School. Police say he admitted to following the girl and that his intent was to have sex with her.
The attorney asked for Philpot asked for a reasonable bond saying, "he's being convicted for what they believe he was thinking". He also believes Philpot has some mental health concerns.
The judge set bond at $500,000.
