NORTHSIDE, Ohio (WKRC) - High waters bubbling up from manhole covers took over parts of Northside after severe weather swept through the area late Saturday and early Sunday.
Homeowners along Martha Street near Virginia Avenue said the flooding started around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Rushing waters went up on the sidewalks and into the basements of some homes.
"Three freezers, two hot water heaters, washer and dryer, I mean you name it, it's all gone, you know," sad Northside resident Berttie Wesley. "I don't know (what to do next). I'll start crying. I don't know. It's just up to God."
Some of the homeowners are blaming the Metropolitan Sewer District for the flood saying a new construction project happening behind their homes is not draining.
MSD responded to complaints on social media with a statement:
"MSD is aware of the situation and is investigating," the organization posted on Twitter. "We currently have a project under construction in that area. We understand there is concern from the community, and we want them to know we are taking action to determine what happened and how to address the issue."
