Jury convicts man of girlfriend's murder in Taylor Mill

Lamont Johnson was convicted of Trina Coleman's murder (KCSO)

TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WKRC) - It took a Kenton County jury less than one hour to convict the man suspected of murdering a woman in 2016. The jury also recommended a sentence of life in prison for Lamont Johnson on January 12.

Trina Coleman was found dead on Nov. 7, 2016 in her apartment on Sharon Drive. Her family had forced their way into her apartment when she didn't show up for work.

Johnson was dating her at the time of her death and was believed to have been the last person to see her alive. Police have never said how she died.

Johnson will be formally sentenced in March.

This was the first murder in Taylor Mill in nearly 30 years.
