Kroger signs designer to launch new fashion line

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) - Kroger Co. has selected a designer and a brand name for its new apparel line that will launch in its stores this fall.

The Cincinnati-based grocer (NYSE: KR) is partnering with fashion designer Joe Mimran to launch the line of clothing for men, women, juniors, kids and babies called Dip.

Mimran is known for the launch of Club Monaco, Joe Fresh and Pink Tartan and has 30 years of fashion industry experience. His Dip line will be exclusive to Kroger.

“Style should be fun,” Mimran said. “We believe good design can be affordable. It should fit into your life, not the other way around.”

Kroger announced its plans to launch a clothing line in November as part of its Restock Kroger strategy to improve profits, boost its stock price and change the way people buy food.
