GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - A local woman has been spreading Christmas cheer all month long at a Green Township Senior Living Community.
Becky Borello, Memory Care Director at The Wellington at North Bend Crossing, started a fundraiser with the goal of raising money to fulfill Christmas lists for kids who wrote letters into the USPS Operation Santa program. Families of residents could buy ‘singing telegrams’ for their loved ones, and Borello would stop by their room and deliver the Christmas cheer.
“Everyone has just been really receptive and really happy and the residents just really enjoy it so the more they enjoy it the more keyed up to really do more," said Borello.
She had so much fun with it, she decided to dress in different costumes throughout the month to make it extra special. She dressed as Elvis, an angel, and even as Santa riding a reindeer.
“It’s really, truly the best part of my day. It’s what I live for professionally to get those moments of joy. It’s just what I love to do," said Borello.
The singing telegrams ended up raising $300 Borello used to ‘adopt a letter’ and buy Christmas gifts for three boys in Ohio who sent letters to Operation Santa.
Borello says, she plans to continue the telegrams throughout the year and is already working on Valentine’s Day surprises.
