UPDATE: A grand jury declined to indict Aminata Cherif. She no longer faces charges.
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - A Colerain Township mother is accused of fracturing her 1-year-old son’s skull after repeatedly slamming his head into an unknown surface.
Aminata Cherif, 30, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felonious assault and endangering children for the alleged April 12 attack.
No one answered Wednesday at the Miles Road home neighbors say Cherif shares with her husband. Teresa Jackson said the couple is known for hosting parties once a year, but said they generally keep a low profile.
“I mean, lots of people,” Jackson said of the parties. “They play African music.”
“I can’t understand anything they say because they’re from Africa, but they seemed to be nice,” she said. “They don’t bother anybody.”
Jackson said she saw multiple police officers and an ambulance at the home early one morning several days ago, but said she only learned of the abuse allegations Wednesday.
“I think she would be one sick [expletive],” said Jackson.
Cherif is being held on a $100,000 bond. No mugshot was available for her as of Wednesday evening.
Police haven't said how they learned of the alleged abuse or how the 1-year-old boy is doing.
