CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Immigrants living in the Tri-State reached an important milestone in becoming U.S. citizens. Sixty-one people from 31 countries took the final step in that journey.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline H. Gentry conducted the ceremony, which was attended by dozens of friends and family of the new citizens.
They took the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance, sung the national anthem, and recited the pledge of allegiance for the first time as Americans.
It was a powerful moment filled with emotion and pride.
“Yes, wonderful day. Having a lot of people from different countries like a real United States,” said Ravi Trivedi, a native of India.
“Very exciting. It’s been a long journey, so we’re very grateful to be able to have this opportunity and grateful that we’ve been so welcomed into this country,” said Anna and Daniel Starczynowski, who are originally from Canada.
The men and women now join the more than 23 million naturalized Americans in their new home.
The ceremony also marked the first in person naturalization ceremony at Cincinnati State since 2019.
