A shooting has occurred during the first week of classes at a Minneapolis Catholic school, reports confirm.

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - There was a fatal officer-involved shooting in Butler County late Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting reportedly took place at 5:20 p.m. in the 4100 block of Trenton Road near Jackson Road in St. Clair Township.

Police responded to the area near Jackson Road and the railroad tracks. An active shooter was taking shots at a moving train, according to a release from police.


The armed suspect fled but was quickly located by Butler County deputies. Shots were fired and the suspect died as a result. No one else was injured.

"It is a tragic situation when life is lost. The preliminary investigation indicates that it was a justified shooting," said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones, according to the press release.

The suspect's identity and the identity of the officer involved in the fatal shooting will both be released on Wednesday pending notification of the deceased suspect's kin, according to the press release.
