Ohio inmate tricked deputies into letting him out of jail
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A manhunt is underway for an inmate who police consider armed and dangerous.
He was mistakenly released from an Ohio jail.
28-year-old Don Ellis was arrested on Monday after allegedly robbing a bank in Toledo.
Police say he was arrested after crashing and flipping his getaway car.
The Lucas County Sheriff's Office says on Wednesday night Ellis tricked deputies into letting him out.
Sheriff John Tharp said, "Our officers, he deceived them to letting them believe he was somebody else. I take full responsibility. He should not have been released. There's no excuses for him being released. We didn't do our job properly."
The sheriff's office said this is the first escape from the facility in at least 15 years.
The FBI is offering $5,000 for information that leads to his recapture.
