BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - A driver was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer in Boone County early Friday. The Boone County Sheriff's Office has identified him as Joseph Sohmer, 36.
Deputies believe Sohmer may have been intoxicated and speeding when he ran a red light on Burlington Pike at about 2:20 a.m. His Jaguar t-boned the semi, continued underneath and shot out the other side. The car continued down an embankment.
The tractor-trailer stopped across the intersection, blocking all lanes at the intersection with Aero Parkway. The intersection was closed until about 4:35 a.m.
Deputies say Sohmer wasn't wearing his seatbelt.
No charges have been filed.
