CINCINNATI (WKRC) - You have "one shot" to save a life -- that's the message of a new foundation launched this week in memory of a local high school soccer player.
Matthew Mangine Jr. collapsed last June during soccer conditioning at St. Henry High School and died.
Local 12 covered his death and the subsequent lawsuit as part of our series "Athletes at Risk?"
His parents launched The Matthew Mangine Jr. "One Shot" Foundation nine months and one day after his death. The foundation’s mission is to educate other parents, coaches and athletes about the number of preventable, sudden deaths.
One of the foundation's goals is to raise awareness on the importance of properly executing emergency action plans (EAPs). In Kentucky, schools are required by law to not only have EAPs, but practice them.
