MAYSVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) - One man was killed and two were injured in a boating accident on the Ohio River Saturday afternoon.
Police say 52-year-old Ronnie Parker from Felicity, Ohio was killed when a speed boat that he and three others were on experienced a malfunction.
Lt. Justin Horsh with the Maysville Police Department said Parker was killed when the speed boat got caught in a 180-degree spin, throwing all four people from the boat. None of them were wearing life jackets.
The other three were not injured.
After the spin, two men on a pontoon boat came over to help those thrown into the water. That's when the two boats collided, seriously injuring one man on the pontoon boat.
He was flown by a medical helicopter to U.C. Medical Center.
The other man on the pontoon boat suffered minor injuries.
Emergency crews were initially called to the scene on the river between Aberdeen and Maysville near the William Harsha Bridge around 1:30 p.m.
Parker's body was located around 8 p.m. using sonar equipment from Clermont County.
