Revel OTR: Making wine in Over-the-Rhine

New urban winery opens on East 12th Street (WKRC)

OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - Need an unpretentious place to sip some wine? Revel OTR calls itself an urban winery and it just opened.

Revel OTR makes its own wines and sells other wine from other small, family-owned wineries.

Co-owner Anthony Maieron says customers can get a glass of wine in a juice glass. "This is how I grew up in my house, my parents are from Italy. This is how we drink wine in my house, just whatever's in the cupboard so a juice glass is how they drink wine in Italy. It's non-pretentious, it's kind of like what ever goes. We want to create this place for the public that lets them enjoy wine with your friends, open up a bottle and just chill, listen to good music, have a good time. That's what we're doing."

There's some art to enjoy, especially the black sheep on the wall. Maieron says he's the black sheep of his family and of wineries. He says that because of the way they serve their wine and present there business. "What we feel is right, we're going to roll with it."

Co-owner John Coleman says they've been working to get this winery off the ground since 2004.

Revel OTR is located on East 12th Street. "The cool thing is we bought this building, 1885 building, it's a perfect basement to be making wine in. We're making wine in Over-the-Rhine."
