Rumpke truck driver injured in Norwood incident
NORWOOD, Ohio (WKRC) - A Rumpke truck driver was injured Monday afternoon while working.
Fire crews were called to Catherine Avenue near Williams Avenue in Norwood around 1:15 p.m. for a possible explosion. A neighbor came out and sprayed the driver with a hose to try to help him.
The driver was taken to UC Medical Center. He was treated for skin irritation.
Investigators aren't sure if it was an actual explosion or not that happened in the truck. There were some concerns about hazardous materials. Firefighters worked to determine what inside the truck reacted, causing the problem. Their tests were inconclusive, according to Rumpke communications manager Molly Yeager.
Rumpke says they are investigating the incident.
