1 dead after crash in Cold Spring, three others injured
COLD SPRING, Ky. (WKRC) - One person is dead after a fatal crash that shut down the AA Highway between I-275 and Alexandria Pike for a short time.
The crash occurred near the intersection of AA Highway and KY-1998 just after 2:30 p.m.
The Cold Spring Police Department said that a Honda sedan traveling south on the AA Highway in the left lane appears to have had swerved to the left, crossing a raised median into the northbound lanes. Police believe the driver may have been swerving to avoid a collision with traffic that had stopped suddenly.
A Ford coupe in the northbound lanes then struck the right side of the Honda. The driver of the Honda, 28-year-old Amber Hounshell from Alexandria, died at the scene.
Two men in the Ford and a child in the Honda were taken to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Witnesses said a gray or silver car stopped at the scene to check on the occupants in both vehicles, but that person left before police arrived. The Cold Spring Police Department is looking for that witness to find out what they saw. They are asked to call 859-441-6289.
