Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting in Dearborn County
DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (WKRC) - A suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Dearborn County on Saturday morning, according to Indiana State Police. He's been identified as Christopher Schmitt, 58.
Indiana State Police troopers and Dearborn County deputies were called to Schmitt's home on Five Point Road just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.
As they walked up to the home, they say Schmitt pointed a gun at them. Both officers fired shots at Schmitt, who was hit by at least one of the rounds.
Schmitt was rushed to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, where he died.
ISP identified Trooper Jordan Craig and Deputy Brian Weigel as the officers who responded.
The Dearborn County Prosecutor's Office will review the shooting.
