Two men charged in connection with Colerain homicide

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- Two men are charged in connection to a homicide in Colerain Township in April. Police were called to an apartment building on West Galbraith Road on April 4. They found Brandon Fields, 22, suffering from a gunshot wound. Fields died from his injuries. Other people who were there told police Fields was alone when he was shot somewhere else. However, police couldn't find another crime scene.A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Maurice Vassar, 22, on charges of reckless homicide, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice and a gun charge. Joseph Matthews, 23, is charged with obstructing evidence, drug trafficking and tampering with evidence. According to court papers, Matthews brought the 9 mm rifle to Fields apartment but Vassar is accused of pulling the trigger. Court documents also say Matthews brought marijuana, plastic bags, a scale and prescription pills and hid them from police. Matthews is held on $75,000 bond. Vassar has not been arrested.
