Uncle of murder victim accused of pushing her into the line of fire to save himself
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - One of two men charged with the murder of Diamond Green in Over-the-Rhine is her own uncle, who is accused of pushing her into the line of fire to save himself. Jonathan Green and Taureen Rice were both arraigned on murder and felonious assault charges.
Diamond Green was shot and killed at Walnut and East Liberty streets Monday morning. Jonathan Green and Rice were also shot.
Assistant prosecutor David Wood said Johnathan Green and Rice were engaged in a firefight. "During the process of that gunfight, the defendant pushed his own niece, 21-years-old, into the line of fire to save himself."
While it appears Rice actually shot and killed Diamond Green, both are charged with her murder.
Attorneys for both Rice and Green asked for reasonable bonds, citing that both needed medical treatment for their own injuries.
Wood said Green was under indictment for drug trafficking and drug possession charges. A warrant was already out for his arrest after he missed a court appearance. With the allegations that he sacrificed his niece to save himself Wood asked for a high bond. "We believe this defendant should have as high a bond the court feels it can morally set."
The judge ordered both Green and Rice held on a million dollars bond each.
