FAIRBORN, Ohio (WKRC) -- Tensions mount on an Ohio campus as protesters "stand" on the American flag. Two groups formed on Wright State University's campus but collided when some military veterans voiced their frustrations with what they called the, "disrespectful treatment of the American flag."Members of the group "Black Lives Matter" stood on top of the red, white and blue. They said they wanted to raise awareness of the injustice and inequality facing African Americans.Tommy Dimassimo, an ally of Black Lives Matter, said, "This is not meant to individually disrespect member of military service for the sacrifices they made for this country. We are not anti-vet, we are not anti-troops. We are against systematic oppression and structural inequality."Tensions peaked when a veteran took a flag right out from under the feet of one of the protesters. The event however, ended with a peaceful exchange. Members of Black Lives Matter passed the flags they dragged to the ground to the veterans so they could properly dispose of them.
