West End, Newport, and Oakley in the mix for possible FC Cincinnati stadium spots
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There are clues as to where a potential major league soccer stadium might be built.
FC Cincinnati president and GM Jeff Berding has said to Local 12 that the team is looking at sites in the West End, Oakley and Newport.
He wouldn't specify where and it's not clear how it will be paid for.
Commissioner Todd Portune has said to Local 12 he's been approached by team officials about using tax money, but told them “no.”
He says he plans to talk to the MLS commissioner directly later this summer and push back against the stipulation that the team must have its own stadium.
Portune says both Paul Brown and Nippert Stadiums are both perfectly suitable.
