Woman killed in Avondale apartment fire
AVONDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - A woman was killed in a fire at an Avondale apartment early Wednesday morning.
The fire started around 3:00 a.m. at the Walker Apartments on Washington Avenue.
It happened in an apartment unit on the third floor. Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the building.
They found the woman. Emergency crews rushed her to the hospital but she died from her injuries. Her name has not been released .
Neighbors were upset to hear of her death. "I'm just devastated, I knew the girl. I'm just very upset right now," said Renee Brown. "It's just sad, very sad. I'm glad the rest of us are ok but we hate to lose a neighbor."
Other residents of the apartment were staying warm in a Metro Bus as investigators worked inside.
The Cincinnati Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit arrived at the scene just before 6:00 a.m.
