Police search for man who shot OTR bar manager in her face
OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - Cincinnati Police spent Thanksgiving following up on leads as they investigated the shooting of a bar manager.
27-year-old Ellie Richardson was leaving Lachey's Bar just after 3 a.m. when police said a van nearly hit her. The van stopped and Richardson and the driver exchanged words. Police said Richardson approached the van and the driver shot her in the face.
Police described the driver as an African-American man with short hair, a light beard and glasses.
"I've noticed an increase of sort of a late night riffraff crowd that sort of hangs around down here and I'm really saddened to hear about this because I actually frequent Lachey's quite often," said Scott Ford who lives in Over-the-Rhine.
Ford said he leaves bars at night and is out in the neighborhood often during the day. Ford said the van stood out to him when he saw the photo released by Cincinnati Police.
"I've seen that van around here before," Ford said. "Around 7 o'clock in the morning when I grab donuts down here at the donut shop. And I remember that specific color and the tint. That's why that popped out to me so it's very possible that maybe that's a local driver."
Police said they consider the shooting an isolated instance of road rage.
Richardson is the mother of a young son. She was sedated at UC Medical Center Thursday night and is expected to survive.
