WYOMING, Ohio (WKRC) - There was a rousing celebration in Wyoming Wednesday afternoon with cheerleaders, the marching band and hundreds of applauding students.

A pep rally congratulated Wyoming High School's undefeated, state championship football team.

High school assemblies can sometimes be an excuse to get out of class. This one honored a football team that exuded class. Saturday night, the Cowboys won the Division IV State Championship with a blowout of Girard 42-14. It capped a perfect 15-0 season.

The last time Wyoming won a state football championship was 1977 when none of today's students and many of their teachers were not even born.

On Thursday, those players and coaches showed off their trophy, got their championship medals and just reflected on it all.

Besides Thursday's assembly for the high school, Wyoming is also planning a community celebration.
