BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) - A little boy found a loaded gun in his box of toys in Boynton Beach.

The shocking discovery happened during a visit this week by an investigator with the Department of Children and Families who was making an inquiry into a separate matter. DCF, according to police, said it was looking into a report of possible child neglect stemming from a man in the home who may be using and selling drugs, such as "Molly" and pain pills.

As the police officer and DCF worker interviewed a woman, a child began taking toys out of a room. The toys included a box full of books.

According to the arrest report, the 3-year-old boy pulled out a semi-automatic pistol from the box of books.

A Boynton Beach Police officer immediately rushed over to grab the gun. It was loaded with one bullet in the chamber and the safety off.

The woman told police the gun wasn't hers and must've belonged to someone else.

Police searched the home for other hazards and found a powder which later tested positive for Oxycodone, 9 mm ammunition and a scale, according to the arrest report.

Police arrested and charged Rosalyn Renee Faniel, 34, on a charge of child neglect. She also had a warrant out for her arrest on a charge of petit theft.
