ELKHART, Ind. (CNN Newsource/WKRC) - A teacher seen on video hitting a student was arrested Thursday.

61-year-old Michael Hosinski asked for early retirement last Friday,the same day video shows him hitting a student in the face.

It happened in the hallway of Jimtown High School in Elkhart County, Indiana.

The force of the blow knocked the student's head into the wall.

The school board unanimously granted Hosinki's early retirement to become effective immediately.

But police have arrested him following an investigation.

They are asking prosecutors to file a felony battery charge in the case.
