9-year-old living with cerebral palsy has amazing "Beetlejuice"-themed costume
MELROSE PARK, Ill. (WKRC) - For 9-year-old Anthony Alfonso, Halloween is more than just an opportunity to dress up, it's a way to escape.
Anthony lives with cerebral palsy. He can't dress or feed himself. But on Halloween, Anthony always goes home with a full bag of candy. His mom and dad work very hard to help him with his costume every year.
His father, Tony Alfonso, designs and build costumes from scratch. Deanna Alfonso, Anthony's mother, puts the finishing touches on them.
This year, Anthony's costume recreates the "famous waiting room scene" from the movie "Beetlejuice". Tony built a "couch" out of Anthony's old wheelchair and put some mannequins of the movie's background characters on either side of Anthony's seat.
Anthony was the star of the show: Beetlejuice himself.
ony described it as "the best feeling ever," comparing it to "watching your kid hit a home run in a baseball game", according to CBS News.
