NAPERVILLE, Illinois (WKRC) - A harrowing rescue was caught on camera Sunday in Illinois.
After a 911 call alerted authorities that a child had fallen through the ice at a retention pond near an apartment complex, first responders were on scene within minutes.
The 11-year-old boy told his rescuers that his feet were stuck in the mud of the pond.
Crews tossed him a rescue disc attached to a lifeline. A dive-team member dove into the icy water and helped pull the boy to safety.
They were able to get the boy out of the freezing water within four minutes of arrival.
The child was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
