CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Former Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith doesn't like the fact that the Bengals recently met with troubled Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon.

The Bengals were one of four teams to reportedly talk with Mixon, who was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, because he was captured on video punching a female college student near the Oklahoma campus in 2014. The video was released in late December, and it should be noted that Mixon was suspended for the 2014 season. He also agreed to a plea deal that placed him on one year probation and 100 hours community service.

Smith, who it should be noted has been outspoken that men should not hit women, took to Twitter on Sunday after and said the following as it pertains to the Bengals even speaking with Mixon: "Wow!! The #Bengals would let the fool that jump #whitehousefence play for them if he didn’t get caught!!! #Lowstandards.”

Smith was referring to Jonathan Tuan-Anh Tran, the man who is suspected of jumping a White House fence on Friday with two cans of mace and a letter to President Trump about “Russian hackers.” He was apprehended near an entrance to the White House.

While Smith has been outspoken about men not hitting women he was arrested in 2002 and charged with assaulting a Carolina teammate, then was suspended for two games in 2008 for fighting another Carolina teammate and then before the 2015 season said, according to, " I will wound, damage and puncture a lot of people on my way out (of the NFL)."

Smith had initially planned to retire after the 2015 season, but opted to play in 2016 and then announced his retirement.

This past season at Oklahoma as a junior, Mixon rushed for 1,274 yards and 10 touchdowns on 187 carries and caught 37 passes for 538 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bengals are obviously considering drafting a running back due to the decline in Jeremy Hill's performance the last two seasons, the fact Giovani Bernard is returning from surgery to repair a torn ACL and Rex Burkhead possibly leaving as a free agent.
