NKU captures Horizon League softball title, advances to first-ever Division I tournament

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WKRC) - For the first time in program history, Northern Kentucky's softball team will make an appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament.

The Norse won the Horizon League Championship 2-1 over Oakland on Saturday to earn an automatic bid into the tournament.

The Norse will be one of 64-teams that will hear their name called on Sunday night. The double-elimination bracket, spread out into 16 regional locations, gets underway May 19-21.
